“I could tell right off the bat that [Robin] was prepared to help me bring to life what I had been thinking about. That she was prepared to help me… focus the story… to be a meaningful presentation of what I wanted to share.”
Client: Nicole Stott
Hi, my name is Nicole Stott. I am a retired NASA astronaut and aquanaut, now artist. I was blessed with the opportunity to fly in space two times. One time for a little over three months on the International Space Station, and then a second flight, which was the final flight of the space shuttle Discovery, where we went back to the space station but was only there for about two weeks.
I had been told by many people, “Oh, Nicole, you need to write this book.” And that was based primarily on presentations I would make of the experience I had at different events and people coming up to me afterwards and saying, “Okay, you need to tell this story.” And I think it’s a meaningful story as well, and it’s not a memoir. And I think that is what makes it even more important, is that it’s not just: Oh, here’s how Nicole became an astronaut. It’s: Here’s some of the insight into what Nicole experienced as an astronaut. And in a much bigger sense with respect to how we live and work, what we’re doing in space as crew members, that really is the best example for how we should be living down here as crew on spaceship earth.
The whole motivation was really that I felt like I had an important story to tell – a meaningful story to tell – based on the experience I had in space. And I wanted to share the story in a way that hopefully will connect with people so that they can relate and understand all of the amazing things we’re doing in space that are about improving life here on earth. But more importantly, how the way we’re doing that in space can help us all live more like crew members here on spaceship earth.
I first met Robin through an introduction from a dear friend named Will Li. Our first conversation was really introductory, what Robin does, how she works. But I could tell right off the bat that she was prepared to help me bring to life what I had been thinking about. That she was prepared to help me kind of scope the story, focus the story the way it needed to be, to be a meaningful presentation of what I wanted to share.
Everything I’ve ever done… When you fly as an astronaut in space, it’s not just you that got you there. I mean, there’s just tens of thousands of people on the ground, your trainers, mission control, everybody that’s making that possible to even happen for you, and then you’re just kind of the implementer, right, as you go and fly in space. I discovered the same thing is happening with writing this book and Robin is, I mean, really has been one of the key members of my crew that’s helping make this happen.
She’s kind of like my mission control person, my flight director that’s saying, “Okay, Nicole, before you can actually complete the manuscript, you’ve got to encourage people to want to help you tell that story and the way you do that is through these steps. There’s this proposal, there’s this platform, there’s this presentation of yourself that you have to make before they will even show an interest in the book content that you want to have.” It was interesting to me that it took: you got to tell the story of yourself, whether you like it or not, first through this proposal and this platform to be able to tell that the more important story that you want to capture in your book.
I am really thankful to have the opportunity to work with Robin on my book. This is a woman who definitely has the expertise as a writer, as a coach, as someone who can lead you to the meaningful book that you want to create, I would describe her as insightful, thoughtful, and confident. And those are three characteristics that come through in the way that she edits the material I provide to her. She’s not just rewriting it in a style that she wants to write or she’s not just commenting to me based on what she would want to see, but she’s thinking about it from the standpoint of what any reader should be thinking about as they’re reading this book and hopeful, like I am, that people will read it, take meaning from it, and then want to take personal action based on it as well.

I never thought that I would be published in any way, shape, or form with the book. I felt that really the only alternative for someone like me, who has never written a book before, would be the self-publishing route, and that was something I just wasn’t interested in doing. So Robin helped me to overcome the obstacles and to learn what specifically I needed to do in order to not only deliver a really good book, but to get published. From the time that I started writing the book to the time that I was published, it was literally one year.
Robin’s expertise and her connections were invaluable in terms of getting me published. Robin is experienced. She has really good connections, and Robin delivers results.
She never promised that my book would get published for sure, but she always promised that if we followed the process and I took into account her recommendations as we moved forward, that my odds of getting published were high. As it turned out, I had four offers and selected Wiley and Audible, and was very happy with that choice.
The part of the experience in working with Robin that stands out the most to me was our meetings every single week. As we would review each chapter and she would ask me questions, which would reveal more highly compelling information that should be incorporated into each chapter. And going through those meetings, getting those questions asked, things that I’d forgotten about or really had never considered that should go into each chapter, actually did, and really, it was a lot of fun, actually.
So as we were reviewing each chapter, it just sort of gave me not only a chance to reminisce, but it gave me a chance to improve the book overall. It was really the process of finalizing the book with and through Robin that was so much fun and really something that I won’t ever forget.
She coached me through the process. First, we created a platform document. Essentially, that’s a document that attracts not only agents, but also publishers into why they would want to accept your book, how you as a author would market the book, why that book is unique, different, and has a chance to be successful. Robin helped me to put that together, because agents generally won’t take on a book unless they feel that they can secure a publisher. Then just a few months later, I had offers from four different publishers to take on my book. We ultimately selected Wiley as well as Audible.
In less than a year from the time that I started writing the book to working with Robin to securing an agent, I had a book that was published. I came to find out that that was sort of light speed in the publishing industry and it would not have happened had it not been for Robin.

I was skeptical going into the workshop… Initially I was thinking, “Well, hey, we’ve got the ideas for a book, we just need time to write it.” … But once I went, I saw how knowledgeable Robin was and how helpful this process was going to be for us…My business partner and I spent six months writing a book, and… already we’re able to get on podcasts, get speaking engagements, and all kinds of other things that we otherwise wouldn’t have available to us or was much too difficult to get without that book.

“I went with Robin versus the other book coach’s number one because of the process. It wasn’t just accelerate and get everything done…It was a process of self-discovery where we take it step by step.”
Client: Eric Strafel
Early on, I decided I wanted to write a book about leadership and I had been a leader for about 20 years, and I felt like I had something to say. Leadership today is different and I’ve learned a lot of lessons in between here and there. I knew I needed some help. I’d never written a book before. It’s a little bit scary when you think about not being an author and can I really do this? Especially trying to balance work and family commitments and so I met with a couple of coaches and Robin was one of those. And as I talked to Robin, she talked me through the process and got me really comfortable with the process of writing a book, getting my story out and convinced me that she could help me do a better and tell the story in a way that could impact people the best way possible.
And that’s really what I was after. I was trying to make a positive impact, get a point of view out there that I felt like I had and wanted to share and do it in a way through a book and writing a story that people could connect to. And that’s what Robin helped me with. I went with Robin versus the other book coaches, number one because of the process. So it wasn’t just accelerate and get everything down and into a book and get it out. It was a process of self discovery where we take it step by step. Talk about who I’m speaking to, what the message is, what my point of view is, and then deliver that in a logical way, chapter by chapter and with Robin, it ended up being a series of meetings over about six months where she was very flexible and meeting with me.
When I had time, I was oftentimes traveling and sometimes even pulled over in a parking lot, dialing from the car, and we would have a specific topic to talk about that we wanted to dive deeper on. She would explore by just asking good questions about what my point of view was and why other people might care about that. And that process of discovery that she described early on was really what made the difference in why I chose Robin.
She had a great approach to break everything down into a step-by-step process, where I essentially had a bunch of notebooks full of information that I wanted to share and what Robin started with was making sure I understood who the reader was, and what they would resonate with. And so we started out talking about their needs and how I can make an impact for them. And then we started to organize all of my notes into an outline that made sense. And Robin helped me work through that and then we set up a schedule of meetings where essentially we would talk through section by section and what turned out to be chapter by chapter, each section of the book to make sure we understood the key messages, the point of view from the reader’s perspective, which Robin always brought to the conversation, the impact and the actions that could be taken from that and make sure that it turns into a cohesive story, end to end in the entire book.
And so Robin’s process got me from what was a bunch of notes and notebooks into a format to really align a message in a way that could connect with our readers and get out into a story that hopefully can make a difference for others. So if you want to make an impact with a message that you have, or a book you want to create, working with Robin will help you break that down into steps, so you can get your message out there, build the confidence that you could do it. And the reason why I love working with Robin and her team is she helped me explore and discover my own perspectives and get those ideas out in a way that would’ve been very hard to do on my own. She made it very accessible and in something that I felt like I could do and actually had fun doing along the way.

My book came out in February and yesterday I was notified that I received an award from the International Book Fest. I received first place award for my category, which was addictions and mental health. I’m very, very excited about that.
That was way beyond what I ever expected. And that is really important because there’s so many people trying to get recognized and to have that award, to rise above all of the thousands of people that submitted manuscripts is just, I have to give Robin the credit because I wouldn’t have had the creativity and the feeling in there, but that technical expertise that you have to have to win an award. Thanks to her, that’s why it did. I was at the publicity summit by Steve Harrison in New York. And I became friends with another coauthor there, and I really liked him.
And he was there with this woman who had a very strong presence. And I just thought I could tell she really had it all together. And he introduced me to her and we started talking and she told me that she likes to take on people who want to make a difference in the world in their field. And I’m like, that speaks to me. So I got her number and shortly thereafter, I called her. And within three months we had written Exit The Maze.
I had written one book prior to this called Learn, Grow, Forgive: A Path to Spiritual Success, and I realized as a result of writing that book, how badly I needed a really good editor. Robin is totally committed. She is 100% professional. And with me, I never felt like she was wavering or anything like that. And not only did she help me edit the book, she really helped me to get plugged into so many other resources.
I think the most important thing that I could say about Robin is she really, really cares. I didn’t feel like I just hired somebody who was helping me crank out a book. She really was interested in what I’m doing. She isn’t just helping people write books. She’s helping people fulfill their mission here. She’s taking people who are experts in their fields and helping them get their message out. And to me, that’s really, really caring and sets her a whole set above just a technical expert.
One of the things that really helped me more than anything with Robin is that she had a workshop for a few of us before I ever even started writing the book. And in that process, we actually got real clear on our mission here, what we want to say. And that’s where I came up with a book title. I had all this in my mind that there really is one addiction and there’s really only one cause, and that it actually can be cured.
And all of those things are so in your face in the industry. And she me a lot with really jelling that. My whole life has been committed to understanding addiction, being born in addiction, having children with addiction, having parents with addictions, having spouses with addictions, being in recovery myself. I was so mad about all that.
And then all of a sudden I realized, wow, this is not something to be mad about. This is why I’m actually here. And I’ve learned so much. And then my career has been for 34 years working in the field of addiction. I just really wanted to get this done and she made it happen.

“The Bootcamp…helped me to realize that my story was special and helped me to…emphasize and focus on the sections of my book that really stood out to people, things that I may have missed only looking through my own lens.”
Client: Greg Fernandes
My name is Greg Fernandes. I am an author, speaker and educator. When I’m asked what inspired me to write a book, it’s hard to answer that question because I really never saw myself writing a book. I discovered that Robin was the real deal when my mentor, Steve Siegel, did a little research on her. And we discovered that she had worked with a Nobel prize winner. She had worked with an astronaut and she was someone that I should get to know. I knew at that point that she was going to be somebody that I’d be working with at some point.
So literally less than a year from the day we met, I’m sitting with my own book. In addition to those things, the sincerity in our conversation, her knowledge, there was a realness to Robin from the day that we met. I look back now with the steps and I remember how terrified I was at the beginning. Completely terrified. Doubting myself. But again, Robin was that person. Robin was that gentle push. From writing the book to coming up with chapter titles, to organizing the chapters, to really making my writing come full circle, she brought my writing to life.
She kept telling me, “I need more. I know there’s more in there. Put on paper the conversations that we’re having.” I was making it much harder than it needed to be. And she just helped me flow throughout the entire summer. I mean, we got this book done in four months. She made it very easy. It was easy four months. I was so very grim at the beginning of this process. And I always had so many questions for Robin because I wanted to do it right. And the way she handled my questions, the way she guided me through the process, I mean step by step, I never even considered myself a great writer.
And when I told Robin that, we sat for a very long time trying to figure out ways that would work for me. And I think that’s one of Robin’s best qualities is that she is a chameleon and she will transform herself to work with you and to be on your level. One example, writing. The physical act of writing was not my forte. And so we discovered that speaking into a digital recorder was easy for me to do. And then to go back and write down what I wanted to write from my speaking was game-changing for me. It would have taken us triple the time to finish the book if I had just forced myself to do it the common way.
So her ability to get on your level was incredible. I got the sense that that Robin really cared. She was interested in my story and she pushed me to dig deep into my past to really discover what I was really about. Since the release of my book in mid March 2020, the amount of opportunities that have been presented to me has been absolutely extraordinary. The book itself is doing very well sales wise, but also it has really given me the confidence to take my life to a new level.
It has given me the confidence to step out onto my own and really pursue my career as an author, as a speaker and as an educator, I think Robin was that person who really lit that match, who lit the pilot to my need to succeed. And I’m forever grateful for that.

Klaus Lemke, Managing Principal for Lean Project Consulting
The gap analysis of what’s out there already in books and what’s missing really helped me think about how I can reach my ideal client and…understand where I can bring the most value and make the most impact. It was really a discovery process of what can I do for the industry and for my clients that they don’t already have.
Excuse Limit Zero: From a Troubled Life to Writing a Book in 4 Months
Mark Minukas, Managing Partner of Co-Creation Partners
I was skeptical going into the workshop… Initially I was thinking, “Well, hey, we’ve got the ideas for a book, we just need time to write it.” … But once I went, I saw how knowledgeable Robin was and how helpful this process was going to be for us…My business partner and I spent six months writing a book, and… already we’re able to get on podcasts, get speaking engagements, and all kinds of other things that we otherwise wouldn’t have available to us or was much too difficult to get without that book.
Exit the Maze: One Client’s Journey to an Award-Winning Book
“When I went to her bootcamp…I was really jammed up. I didn’t know what I wanted to say or how I wanted to say it…but Robin and the group really helped me to put that into a form that was relatable to the audience.”
Client: Dr. Donna Marks
Frontline CEO: Eric Strafel's Journey From Perplexed to Published
Early on, I decided I wanted to write a book about leadership and I had been a leader for about 20 years, and I felt like I had something to say. Leadership today is different and I’ve learned a lot of lessons in between here and there. I knew I needed some help. I’d never written a book before. It’s a little bit scary when you think about not being an author and can I really do this? Especially trying to balance work and family commitments and so I met with a couple of coaches and Robin was one of those.

Getting Published on Spaceship Earth: An Astronaut's Journey to Becoming An Author

“Robin’s Book and Business Development Bootcamp was kind of a revelation for me. It was two days of focused attention on developing the outline for my book but so much more than that. It gave me context for how to use my book for business development purposes, marketing, and how to put myself in the shoes of my ideal reader.”
